When it was suggested to me that some coaching from Sally Gritten would be helpful in clarifying some personal goals (I didn't really have any or, more to the point, realise that they might be useful), my reaction was probably not atypical - I could probably squeeze a couple of hours in, just to be helpful. I have been sent on management training before and I thought this would be more of the same.
I had no idea how engaging Sally would be or how useful the coaching experience would be for me. In the course of half a dozen monthly sessions, Sally has helped me find perspective, regain confidence, and help focus on what is important. I am decluttering my working life, delegating more effectively, listening more and - most important - getting home at night not feeling wound up. Sally has been encouraging, but has also helped me identify blockages in my working practices simply by sharing a number of different coaching models and techniques.
I would recommend coaching from Sally to anyone else who might be where I am - unwittingly treading water while blaming it on the water! The process has been so straightforward that I still don’t really know what she did to bring this about - she listens, she reaches in, she encourages. Always friendly, never judgmental, but every time helps me rediscover something I didn’t even know I had lost.
Please let me know if you would like any more information about my coaching with Sally. She is brilliant.

I have been coached by Sally in monthly sessions since September 2006. In that time, my sessions with Sally have been one of the most stimulating, challenging, productive and inspiring experiences I’ve ever had in relation to my working environment. I’ve always looked forward to a session with Sally as the highlight of my week at work.
To begin with, we explored what I wanted to achieve through coaching and in that process Sally helped me see my goals and ambitions more clearly, and with her help I’ve mapped out a practical route to reach them. Throughout the coaching process, Sally has always challenged me to think in new ways and question my assumptions, which ultimately has gaven me insights into my approach to work that I’d never had before – what issues have been blocking my progress, how to deal with them to free me up to fulfil my potential, and some very wise words of career advice in general!
Sally’s framework to help me attain my ‘vision of success’ have been very practical and perfect for the way I approach work. The various models we’ve looked at have, for example, have made me aware of my learning style so that I can maximise the speed and effectiveness of what I’m learning, but alongside this has also helped me identify what areas are not my natural forte (equally important) so that I can develop those too in order to achieve a balanced set of work skills.
Not only is Sally strongly insightful and intellectually incisive but her manner also makes her a natural and very gifted coach – she is incredibly supportive and warm, nurturing and good-humoured, which immediately makes one feel comfortable and open in her presence. She has always encouraged me to find answers for myself, while being so adept at teasing out the real issues that I’ve needed to confront. This has made the process of discovering the answers so much more stimulating.

When I first met Sally I had reached rock bottom. My work and personal life were muddy and cloudy, I didn’t know where one finished and the other started. I had lost my sense of direction, where was I going, why was I here and how did things get this bad! My gut instinct was to fold, collapse in a heap. Quit. Start fresh. The worse part of this was that to the outside world I was successful, confident with one of the best reputations in the business. Then I met Sally. The meeting happened to coincide with a particularly bad day and, from a child, I have never really shown my feelings. I’m good at hiding, using a mask. But she saw that all was not well and suggested we try coaching. Her perception is second to none. It was a very gentle conversation to begin with. She instinctively knew about my many layers and sensitively began to peel them back, bit by bit. In the beginning I was sceptical and really didn’t know what to expect but Sally recognises that for the majority of people coaching is a new thing and a somewhat difficult journey. She tailors the sessions around you and the way you work and she talks in a language that you are comfortable with. You feel like you’re her only client and this whole thing is created just for you, like a perfectly tailored suit! After the first half-an-hour I felt a huge sense of relief as I began to talk to her in ways that I hadn’t spoken to anyone before and although some of the realisations were a little uncomfortable it felt like a huge burden had been lifted. Understanding people’s scepticism, Sally doesn’t set out with a list of objectives or results it’s small milestones first and it’s only when your mid-way through your sessions that you realise how far you have come. What’s more she makes YOU feel responsible for the results. As the sessions progressed she encouraged me to set the agenda, this really was all about ME time.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Sally as a coach. In fact, I think it should be made compulsory that everyone should have her in their life! She has given me a whole new outlook on life and friends, family and work colleagues have all noticed a very positive change in me. She is sensitive, perceptive, feeling and utterly professional and I hope that many, many people benefit from her knowledge in years to come.
